Privacy Policy

Effective March 25, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Atmos ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Atmos macOS application and website at getatmos.app (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Subscription and billing. Payment is processed by a third-party provider (e.g. Stripe). We store a record of your subscription status and plan. We do not store full card numbers or sensitive financial data — those remain with the payment processor.

Usage data. We may collect limited, anonymised information about how you interact with the Service (e.g. feature usage, crash reports). This data does not identify you personally.

Device and network information. When you sign up, our servers may log your IP address for abuse prevention and rate limiting. We do not build profiles from IP addresses.

Communications. If you contact us by email we retain the content of that correspondence to assist you.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and subscription.
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, billing receipts).
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service.
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To improve the reliability and performance of the Service.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.

3. Sharing Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — companies that help us operate the Service (e.g. Supabase for database and authentication, Resend for transactional email, Stripe for payments). These providers act as data processors on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Legal compliance — if required by law, court order, or a valid governmental request.
  • Business transfer — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer to the successor entity. We will notify you in advance.
  • With your consent — any other sharing we will ask for your explicit permission first.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or fraud-prevention purposes.

5. Cookies and Tracking

The Atmos website uses session cookies strictly necessary for authentication (provided by Supabase). We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or analytics cookies that identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser but doing so will prevent you from signing in.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and access controls for personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take it seriously.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, contact us at support@getatmos.app and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to certain types of processing (e.g. direct marketing).
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

9. Canadian Privacy Law (PIPEDA)

Atmos operates from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. To make a privacy request, contact us at support@getatmos.app. If you are a California resident, we also honour requests under the CCPA — email us with "CCPA Request" in the subject line.

10. International Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or a notice on the website at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Effective" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version.
